Dog Film Festival (logo) In preparing to take the Dog Film Festival to Los Angeles June 4th & 5th, I heard about EatSeeHear — which is an outdoor, summer-long, pet-friendly event series, with food trucks, movies and live music. I wish there was a series like this in Vermont where I now live! The events run on Saturdays from May 28 through September 17 at outdoor venues all across Los Angeles and the best part is they are totally dog-welcoming! How heavenly is that?  We’re all about dogs, of course! And delighted that several theaters hosting the Dog Film Festival are welcoming dogs in with their people, beginning in Los Angeles. The Crest Westwood Theater is a B.Y.O.D. event (bring-your own dog) event and on Sunday June 5th aisle seats will be reserved for people bringing their pooches.

At EatSeeHear the staff greets dogs at the entrance with free biscuits and there will be water bowls everywhere. And it isn’t just dogs: they’ve even had a few cats, kittens, a bird and a rabbit in a harness show up. Like the Dog Film Festival, EatSeeHear partners with No Kill L.A. to support their adoption initiatives through Best Friends Animal Society. Great minds think alike — 50% of all Dog Film Festival tickets go to our beneficiaries, the Lange Foundation and Downtown Dog Rescue.

The thrill and privilege of bringing my Dog Film Festival across the country is made possible by a generous grant from the Petco Foundation where they embrace our mission of “celebrating the remarkable bond between dogs and their people — and the animal welfare groups that bring them together.” It feels fantastic to have our Founding Sponsor Halo, Purely for Pets continuing to help us bring the joy and inspiration of the festival films to 12 destinations nationwide.

I can’t wait to get to Los Angeles myself next week and see old friends and make new ones! If you are planning to attend EatSeeHear on Saturday June 4, make it a double-feature and come to the Dog Film Festival screenings on Sunday, June 5. See you in L.A!
