Calling All Cat People To “Translate” For Their Kitties
Researchers need the help of people who share their lives with cats to better understand why cats do what they do. Since cats are enigmas wrapped in a mystery, the veterinarians doing this study need the human companions of indoor cats to help make sense of feline quirks and habits.
Dr. Benjamin Hart leads the behavioral studies team at the School of Veterinary Medicine at the University of California at Davis, where he is now collecting information about the behavior of pet cats to test out theories on healing function.
Please take 10 minutes to fill out “Life with Your Cat: Understanding Some Feline Behaviors,” an anonymous survey of the primary caregivers of cats to gather information about their pets’ behaviors.
Why and when do cats purr? Why and when do they yawn? Why do some cats eat plants?
Dr. Hart and his colleagues hope to answer these questions and more. Once created, the data set will be shared with cat caregivers. Participating will bring good karma to you and your kitty.
