4 miniature handmade portraits of beloved pets

You have friends and family who are nuts about their pets, but how do you acknowledge that love? Do you struggle to find unique and special holiday gifts - or birthday or “no occasion” gifts - for them? What can you give people with cats and dogs as presents to celebrate their bond? I mean how many silly toys - that they won’t play with - can you buy for them?!

Boy, do I have a great solution for you!  Commission a tiny portrait of the pet(s).

You can order such a painting from my incredibly talented (yes I’m biased) god daughter, June Kat, who recently graduated from Bennington College (in my hometown). She is living the “starving artist” life in the East Village in New York City, where she and her musician boyfriend, Jack, live in a typically space-challenged apartment. She came up with the brilliant idea of how to accomplish the style of pet paintings she had mastered by making them in miniature. They can fit in the palm of your hand, which also makes them wonderfully easy for the recipient to display.

The result will remind you of something precious and ageless, memorializing the pampered pets of the privileged few, like the elaborate portraits of Marie Antoinette which included her beloved little Papillon dog, Coco. Now regular folks like us can commission a petite portrait of our dog or cat - and at amazingly affordable prices (there’s even a two-fer discount for a pair of portraits.)

Here is a pair of portraits she made of my Wanda and Maisie - who I lost a few weeks after her portrait arrived. It was a wonderful gift. You can see that I had them floated inside a box frame,  but I had also displayed them on little easels on my mantelpiece.

June Kat paints from a photograph, so the pets can be alive or have crossed the Rainbow Bridge. Either way, she has an uncanny knack for capturing the essence of the animal. If you wish, she will also incorporate a little bow tie or scarf in a color of your choice.

When you see how delightful these precious little portraits are, you’ll want to get one (or more) for yourself, too! You deserve it!

Contact June Kat HERE and she can get something to you in time for the holidays (or any time at all).
